More than I would care to admit, my focus is solely on my body and my weight. Psalm 37:4 (NIV) – “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” It’s times like these when I have to take my thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ. So often controlling my thoughts feels like herding cats! I know that God wants me in good health, but my mind often tells me otherwise and my flesh seems happy to oblige my mind. I will rejoice even when I don’t make the best choices with my food or physical activity.Ģ Corinthians 10:5 NIV – “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” ![]() I can choose to rejoice in everything, or I can choose to focus on my problems. ![]() It reminds me that I have a choice in how my day goes. I recite this simple verse every morning as soon as I wake up. Psalm 118:24 NLT – “ This is the day the Lord has made We will rejoice and be glad in it.” It also reminds me that God will give me the strength to get through it. This verse reminds me that I will ‘survive’ (without food or whatever the craving is) although it may not feel like it at the time. Sometimes, even when I’m well-intentioned, the temptation is so great it seems overpowering. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” And God is faithful he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. 13 Bible Verses to Help You Lose Weightġ Corinthians 10:13 NIV – “ No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. I pray that these are a blessing to you, too. This inspired me to share the most powerful and encouraging scriptures that minister to me when I’m feeling discouraged or when I’ve broken my boundaries concerning my health.Īfter compiling my list, the sisters in our accountability group also shared some of their favorites. I’m so grateful for the power of God’s Word. The Holy Spirit led me to a verse that immediately lifted my mood. This morning I woke up feeling a bit discouraged.
